How Big Is Our Eco? We’re committed to understanding and reducing the environmental impact caused by the operation of Bendigo Wholefoods. We think this is very important and have a transparent approach to what we are doing about it. Aside from actively supporting and promoting environmentally responsible products in our store, we have a number of initiatives in place across the business that will help us reduce our environmental impact. insert pic here |
Here are a few of the things we’re up to in-store and in the Bendigo community: Across the range of body and house cleaning products we stock, we ensure they are all sulphate and phosphate free to save you reading all the fine print. Most products are used in cleaning the store each day and our staff are more than happy to offer up some tips. We’ve switched to biodegradable plastic bags and, where possible, encourage our customers to avoid them all together. We provide free packing boxes to anyone who so desires and stock the fantastic, locally made ‘Fregie Sacks’: a reusable, durable and highly versatile shopping bag (http://www.thefregiesack.com.au/). All our food and garden waste is either given to friends and customers for chook food OR composted/worm farmed out the back of the store, with worm juice, compost and castings regularly given out to our customers.

We are active members of the Bendigo Sustainability Group, BSG - http://www.bendigosustainability.org.au. The BSG are a group of local community members wishing to promote sustainable living in our region through a collaborative approach. We are working closely with them to understand our current environmental performance and to devise further initiatives to improve this. Go GREEN at Bendigo Wholefoods!!! |
